Overview

Our Morocco honeymoon tour is designed for two: a private, unhurried eight-day journey that pairs the romance of Marrakech with a luxury camp beneath the Sahara stars and the relaxed Atlantic charm of Essaouira. It's the same expert routing as our classic desert tours, but slowed down and dialled up — hand-picked riads and boutique kasbahs, a private luxury desert bivouac, and time built in simply to be together.

Everything is tailor-made around you, with your own driver-guide throughout and no fixed group. We arrange the romantic touches — a candlelit dinner in the dunes, rose petals and a rooftop breakfast, a couples' hammam in Marrakech — and you approve every hotel on the list before paying any deposit. Tell us your dates and your dream, and we'll shape the honeymoon around it.

Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1Arrive Marrakech — romantic riad

Your driver-guide welcomes you at Marrakech airport and transfers you to a hand-picked riad in the heart of the medina — a restored courtyard house with a plunge pool and a rooftop terrace over the rooftops of the old city. After time to settle in and freshen up, the evening is yours: we can arrange a candlelit rooftop dinner or a table at a romantic medina restaurant, and a first stroll to Jemaa el-Fna, the UNESCO-listed square, which comes alive after dark. It's a gentle, celebratory start to your honeymoon, with nothing to do but toast the journey ahead. (no driving — arrival day)

Day 2Marrakech — private city tour & romantic evening

A relaxed private day discovering Marrakech with a local guide, at your own pace. We take in the Koutoubia minaret, the exquisite Bahia Palace with its painted cedar ceilings, the tranquil Majorelle Garden and the marble-lined Saadian Tombs, winding through the souks with time to shop for something special together. In the afternoon we can arrange a traditional couples' hammam and spa — a candlelit steam, black-soap scrub and massage for two — before a sunset drink on a rooftop overlooking the Atlas. The evening is free for a romantic dinner we're happy to book for you. (city day — walking, at a gentle pace)

Day 3Marrakech → Tizi n'Tichka → Aït Ben Haddou → Dades Valley

After a leisurely breakfast we climb into the High Atlas over the Tizi n'Tichka pass (2,260 m), with viewpoints and Berber villages, and stop at Aït Ben Haddou, the UNESCO-listed earthen city and famous film location, exploring its kasbahs with a local guide. After lunch we follow the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs into the rose-coloured Dades Valley, checking into a boutique kasbah hotel with a terrace over the palm groves — a beautiful, quiet spot to watch the sunset with a glass of Moroccan wine. A day of cinematic scenery and slow, scenic driving with plenty of photo stops. (approx. 6 hrs driving)

Day 4Dades → Todra Gorge → Merzouga (camel trek & luxury camp)

This is the night your honeymoon has been building towards. After the Dades Valley's dramatic rock formations we walk the Todra Gorge between sheer 300-metre walls, then continue east to the edge of the Sahara at Merzouga. In the late afternoon you ride camels into the Erg Chebbi dunes for sunset, arriving at a private luxury desert camp — an en-suite tent with real beds and lantern light. Dinner is candlelit beneath the stars, with drumming around the fire and a sky so dark the Milky Way is unmistakable. It is, for most couples, the most romantic night of the trip. (approx. 5 hrs driving)

Day 5Sunrise in the dunes → Ouarzazate → High Atlas → Marrakech

Wake for a private sunrise over the dunes — we can arrange breakfast set up on a quiet crest, just for the two of you — before riding back to camp. Today we retrace the Kasbah trail west, pausing at Ouarzazate, Morocco's 'Hollywood', and recrossing the High Atlas over the Tizi n'Tichka, with viewpoints and a mountain café stop. We reach Marrakech by evening for a night back in the city, or, if you prefer to keep moving toward the coast, an overnight in a kasbah or Atlas-foothills retreat. Your guide tailors the day's pace and stops entirely to you. (approx. 7 hrs driving)

Day 6Marrakech → Essaouira

We leave for the Atlantic coast, the road passing through argan groves — found only in this region — where you can see goats perched in the branches and stop at a women's co-operative producing argan oil. By midday we reach Essaouira, the blue-and-white former Portuguese port, windswept and wonderfully relaxed, with sea ramparts, an easygoing medina and a long beach. We check into a boutique riad or a beachfront hotel, and the afternoon is free to wander the fishing harbour and art galleries hand in hand, or simply watch the light change over the water. (approx. 3 hrs driving)

Day 7Essaouira — a free day by the sea

A full free day to enjoy Essaouira together at your own rhythm — the relaxed, romantic pause at the end of the trip. Stroll the wave-battered ramparts and the whitewashed medina, browse the thuya-wood workshops and galleries, or simply relax on the wide beach, popular with kitesurfers thanks to the steady Atlantic breeze. Seafood lovers pick their catch straight off the harbour grills. We can arrange an optional horseback or camel ride along the sand at sunset, a boat trip, or a couples' spa treatment — or leave the day entirely unplanned. A calm, creative, salt-air counterpoint to the desert. (no driving — a day to relax)

Day 8Essaouira → Marrakech → departure

After a final seaside breakfast we drive back to Marrakech (about three hours), with time depending on your flight for a last wander through the souks or a quiet mint tea before we transfer you to the airport. If your schedule allows, we can arrange a late checkout or a few extra hours in the city. Your guide makes sure you leave relaxed and on time, at the end of a honeymoon that gathered the romance of Marrakech, a luxury night under the Sahara stars and the breezy charm of the coast. Longer honeymoons — adding Fes, Chefchaouen or more coast — are easily arranged. (approx. 3 hrs to Marrakech, then airport transfer)

Why Morocco makes an unforgettable honeymoon

Morocco packs an extraordinary range of romance into a short flight from Europe: the sensory theatre of Marrakech, a night under the clearest stars you'll ever see in the Sahara, kasbah country that looks like a film set, and a laid-back Atlantic coast made for slow mornings. Few destinations let a couple go from a rooftop dinner over a medina to a candlelit tent in the dunes to a beach town in a single week — all without a long-haul flight or a rushed itinerary.

Because this trip is entirely private and tailor-made, it flexes to the honeymoon you want — barefoot-luxury and adventurous, or slow and indulgent. There are no group coaches, no fixed departures and no shopping-stop scripts; just the two of you, your driver-guide and a journey shaped around your pace, your budget and the moments you most want to share.

A luxury night under the Sahara stars

The heart of the honeymoon is the night at Erg Chebbi. You ride camels into the dunes as the sand turns deep orange at sunset, then arrive at a private luxury camp — an en-suite tent with real beds, rugs and lantern light, set among the dunes away from the crowds. Dinner is candlelit beneath the stars, with drumming around the fire and a sky so dark the Milky Way stretches from horizon to horizon.

We can add the romantic extras that make the night unforgettable: a private dinner set apart from the main camp, rose petals and lanterns, a bottle of something to toast with, and breakfast carried out to a quiet dune crest for sunrise, just for the two of you. It's the kind of experience couples talk about for years, and it's built into the itinerary rather than tacked on.

Romantic touches, hammams and private dining

Beyond the desert, we weave romance through the whole trip. In Marrakech we can book a traditional couples' hammam — a candlelit steam, black-soap scrub and massage for two — and a sunset drink on a rooftop overlooking the Atlas. Along the Kasbah trail we choose boutique hotels with terraces made for watching the sun go down, and in Essaouira a beachfront riad and a table by the water.

Tell us what matters to you and we'll arrange it: a special anniversary of your wedding date, a private chef's dinner in your riad, a horseback ride on the beach, or simply a slower pace with late breakfasts and free afternoons. We don't invent hotels you haven't seen — you approve every property on the list before paying, so the surprises are the good kind.

Marrakech and Essaouira: the perfect bookends

Starting in Marrakech and finishing on the coast gives the honeymoon a natural arc — from the energy and colour of the red city to the calm of the Atlantic. Marrakech is where you'll want to be for the first couple of nights: a romantic riad with a rooftop, the palaces and gardens, the souks and the nightly theatre of Jemaa el-Fna, all easy to enjoy at a gentle pace with a private guide.

Essaouira is the exhale. After the desert and the drives, its whitewashed medina, sea ramparts and long windswept beach are made for doing very little — fresh seafood off the harbour grills, art galleries, and sunset walks on the sand. Ending here rather than back in the city means your honeymoon finishes on a slow, romantic note by the sea.

Best time for a Morocco honeymoon

Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are the loveliest months for this itinerary: warm but comfortable in Marrakech and the desert, and pleasant on the coast. Spring brings wildflowers and green valleys along the Kasbah trail; autumn brings the date harvest in the south and settled, golden weather by the sea — both are ideal for the outdoor, romantic heart of the trip.

Summer is hot inland, though Essaouira stays cool thanks to the Atlantic breeze, and we schedule desert activities around sunrise and sunset; winter offers clear light, thin crowds and beautifully starry — if cold — desert nights that make the luxury camp all the cosier. Whatever the season, we adjust the pace and the packing advice so the trip feels effortless.

How we tailor your honeymoon

This eight-day route is a framework, not a fixed package. Many couples lengthen it — adding Fes and the blue city of Chefchaouen in the north, more time on the coast, or a few days in the Atlas mountains — while others keep it short and indulgent. We match every hotel to your taste and budget, from characterful riads to five-star resorts and, in the desert, from a comfortable camp to the most luxurious private bivouac.

Because it's fully private, the pace is yours: slower mornings, an extra desert night, a spa afternoon, or a more active route with a walk in the Atlas. Give us your dates, your budget and the honeymoon you're dreaming of, and we'll design the exact version around you — with no deposit due until you're happy with every detail.
