About Visit Maghreb
A small collective of native Moroccan guides, since 2008
Visit Maghreb is a small, family-rooted travel collective based in Marrakech. Since 2008 we have designed and led private journeys across Morocco for travellers who want the real kingdom — not a coach-tour version of it. We are not a call centre reselling other people's tours: we are the Moroccan guides, drivers and planners who actually run them.
Our story
We began with one driver, one battered 4x4, and a conviction that Morocco is best understood through the people who live in it. Our founder grew up in a village at the edge of the Sahara, guiding curious visitors to the dunes long before it was ever a business — pointing out the well his grandfather dug, the track the caravans still follow, the dune where the light is best at dawn. Word spread, friends and cousins who knew their own corners of the country joined, and a single car slowly became a trusted team.
More than fifteen years later we have guided thousands of travellers from every continent, yet we have deliberately stayed small. We would rather be the company that remembers your children's names and the tagine you loved than the one that moves the most people through the most buses. Every itinerary is still planned by a real person you can talk to, and led on the ground by a guide who grew up in the places you'll visit.
The people who guide you
Your trip is led by native Berber and Arab driver-guides — not subcontracted strangers, but members of our own team whom we know and trust. They are licensed and experienced, speak English (and between them French, Spanish, Italian and Arabic), and drive modern, air-conditioned, insured 4x4s and minivans they maintain themselves. In the desert you are hosted by Berber families who have lived beside Erg Chebbi for generations and run our camps with genuine warmth.
This matters because a guide who belongs to a place opens doors no guidebook can: an invitation to mint tea in a family home, the quiet back lane around a crowded souk, the shepherd who knows where to find the fossils. It is the difference between being shown Morocco and being welcomed into it.
Meet the team
Visit Maghreb isn't a call centre — it's a small group of real Moroccans who plan, drive and host every trip. These are the people you'll meet along the way.

How we plan your trip
Planning starts with a conversation, not a booking form. You tell us your dates, your group, your budget and what you're curious about; we send back honest ideas and a clear, all-in quote — and we'll happily talk you out of cramming too much in. Once you're happy, we fine-tune the route, the pace and the hotels until the itinerary is truly yours. You approve everything, including the accommodation list, before you pay a deposit, and your planner stays reachable by WhatsApp throughout the trip.
Responsible, local travel
Because we are Moroccan-owned and Moroccan-staffed, the money you spend stays in Moroccan hands — with our guides, the family riads we book, the desert camps, and the cooperatives and small restaurants we choose over commission-paying tourist traps. We favour locally owned accommodation, travel in small private groups rather than large coaches, and never build hidden shopping stops into a day. Good travel should be good for the places that make it possible.
What we believe
Travel should be private, unhurried and honest. That means no commission shopping stops, no scripted patter, and no rigid coach itineraries. It means staying in family-run riads and Berber camps, eating where locals eat, and making sure your trip bends around you rather than the other way around. Every journey is tailor-made, and you pay no deposit until your itinerary is approved.
