3 Days Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga Desert
Cross the High Atlas, walk through Aït Ben Haddou's kasbah, descend the Dades Valley and sleep two nights under the stars at Erg Chebbi.
From Fes into the Rif — Roman ruins, an imperial city and a day lost in the blue lanes of Chefchaouen.
Our 2-day tour from Fes to Chefchaouen pairs two of northern Morocco's great experiences — a deep dive into Roman and imperial history, and a relaxed day in the famous blue city — without the rush of trying to do it all in one exhausting day trip. You travel privately from Fes, stopping at the remarkable Roman ruins of Volubilis and the monumental imperial city of Meknes, then climb into the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen for an overnight stay that lets you experience the medina after the day-trippers have gone.
It's an ideal add-on for travellers based in Fes who want to see the north properly, and it works beautifully as the first leg of a longer journey. The tour is fully private and tailor-made, led by a native driver-guide, with no deposit until your itinerary is approved.
Private local Berber & Arab guides who know every kasbah, dune and shortcut.

We leave Fes mid-morning and drive west to Meknes, the 17th-century imperial capital of Sultan Moulay Ismail. Here we see the monumental Bab Mansour gate, the vast royal granaries and stables, and the ramparts that earned Meknes the nickname 'the Versailles of Morocco'. A short drive north brings us to Volubilis, the best-preserved Roman city in the country — we walk among standing columns, triumphal arches and astonishingly intact floor mosaics, with the Rif rising green beyond. After lunch in nearby Moulay Idriss, the sacred whitewashed hill town, we climb into the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen, arriving in time to settle in and catch the late-afternoon light on the blue walls. As the day-trippers leave, the medina becomes calm and magical. (approx. 4 hrs driving, with stops)
After breakfast you have the morning to explore Chefchaouen at your own pace. Wander the stepped lanes washed in countless shades of blue, browse the wool and crafts the Rif is known for, and climb to the Spanish Mosque viewpoint for a sweeping panorama over the blue medina and the mountains — best of all in the soft morning light. Your guide can show you the kasbah, the Outa el Hammam square and the Ras el Maa waterfall where locals still wash, or simply leave you to get happily lost. After a relaxed lunch we begin the scenic drive back through the Rif to Fes, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening, with a stop or two for photographs of the rolling green countryside along the way. (approx. 4 hrs driving)

In Chefchaouen you stay in a characterful hotel or guesthouse within or beside the blue medina, chosen for atmosphere and a warm welcome rather than chain anonymity — many have roof terraces with views over the blue rooftops to the Rif. A traditional dinner is included, and breakfast is served before your free morning.
As with all our trips, the standard is yours to choose: simple and authentic, a boutique riad, or something more luxurious. You approve the accommodation before paying a deposit, and we'll match it to your taste and budget.
Chefchaouen sits around four hours from Fes, so a single-day round trip means a lot of driving for only a couple of rushed hours in the blue city — usually in the middle of the day when the lanes are busiest and the light is flat. Staying overnight changes the experience entirely.
You arrive for the golden hour, see the medina empty out as the day-trippers leave, enjoy a calm evening and a quiet morning, and catch the soft early light that photographers prize. Adding Volubilis and Meknes on the way means the drive itself is full of highlights rather than dead time. It's simply a far richer way to see the north.

Around four hours by road each way. That's why we build it as a two-day trip with an overnight, rather than a long single-day dash — and why we add Volubilis and Meknes to make the drive worthwhile.
Absolutely. Many travellers add a second night to relax further or to hike in the Rif. Just tell us and we'll tailor the itinerary.
